For this article, Byloka would like to tell you about one of the most peaceful places in Malaysia, where not only can you run away for a while, but immerse in an environment that you may have not experienced before.
Janda Baik is a small village in Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia. Geographically located in the state of Pahang, Malaysia. It is about 30 km from Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. A simple Malay kampong or village with a population of approximately 1000 people. Janda Baik has much to offer as a day trip from KL or weekend getaway from Kuala Lumpur. Only a 45-minute drive from the city center, the area is blessed with rainforest – one of the few places in Malaysia that has yet to be taken over by palm oil plantations.
The adventure begins at Pinto Coffee + ‘s short jungle-lined driveway. Do not fear. While it looks as though you might need a four-wheel-drive to continue, the road is short and it quickly opens to a shady carpark. You’ll find an open-walled rainforest cafe featuring tables and chairs rustically made from large chunks of wood and the cafe’s very own roasting machine. The team at Pinto Coffee + not only roast their own beans but grow them too.
There are numerous waterfalls and picnic spots where you can soak up the fresh hill air. We recommend going early to avoid the crowd and traffic. Perhaps, plan a breakfast picnic and appreciate having a stream or jungle patch all to yourself.
If you find any of this difficult, just go for a drive and you’ll see that Janda Baik is one of the most peaceful places in Malaysia and it’s amazing how we still keep this hidden gem safe with us, and not cause any destruction.
