Nowadays, more and more people like to spend the quality time with family by doing some outdoor activities. And fishing is a good way to train the patience and relief the stress. Breathing the fresh air by side of the lake, maybe also having a picnic there, isn’t it a joy?

However, traditional fishing with sharp hook is actually very cruel to fishes. So Sport fishing, also known as recreational fishing, is an ideal alternative choice for fishing lovers. It is fishing for survival, pleasure or competition, which is contrasted with commercial fishing. When you use special designed hook to catch the fish without causing any harm , and then release them in the end. It is also an opportunity to teach the kids about respecting life.

Location of this fishing experience is one hour away from KL. Our host Shamin is known as “Milkfish Lady” in Malaysia. And she is also a sport fishing instructor. She can lead you to explore the different aspect of Malaysia despite from busy streets and shopping centers.

What makes this trip so special? Because it is fun, safe and also meaningful. The main purpose of this outdoor fishing is to introduce people ethical angling. And spread the awareness of protecting the ocean. So before the fishing experience really started, our host will deliver an introduction for the tips that you need to be careful of.

As most of us are living in cities, we can’t imagine how much of happiness and the joy that mother nature and rural life can bring us. After the introduction by host, you will have a basic knowledge on what is ethical angling. During the fishing, you will finally experience and understand what you heard just now. And hopefully, at the end of the trip, you will be aware of how can you become a part of the action to save the ocean. So it is a very educational trip that worth to bring the family to experience.

No matter how old are you, you are welcome to join this trip. Hosts are very friendly and informative. They will teach you hand by hand how to do recreational fishing.

Fishing also requires teamwork

Here are some tips on How to Become an Ethical Angler? We can focus on three stages of fishing: Before fishing, during fishing and releasing the fish.

1. Before Fishing

It is very important to choose the location of fishing. You have to follow the local rules and regulations. At the same time you need to respect the private property. On the other hand, ethical angling requires different type of hooks. You will need to use circle and barbless hooks to help reduce injury to fish. in order to release them later.

2. During Fishing

During fishing, being lousy is forbidden. Because the fishes will be scared away. And if you caught a fish, try to be quick, so you won’t exhaust the fish. When you are holding a fish, you need to wear rubberized gloves or use wet hands, otherwise you will remove the slime coat on the fish. So they will be more likely to get skin infection.

3. Releasing The Fish

Hold the fish horizontally whenever possible since this is the way fish naturally swim through the water. Do not drop the fish onto hard surfaces! Keep your fingers away from the gills and eyes of the fish. If needed, use a release tool (dehookers, recompression tools) to minimize handling.

Happiness of catching a fish

Our host stated, actually the purpose of this trip is not attracting people to fish, but using this opportunity to make people join the team of protecting ocean and marine animals.
